Doing my volunteering at an animal conservation isn’t the most glamorous work. I can tell you from firsthand experience: Do not wear your favorite shirt when you start working. And I wouldn't wear my new sneakers either, because you don't even know what might happened to it. Despite all of this, it's an uhh-mayyyzing and rewarding experience while there are many tough chores, like cleaning up their dirty beds and hiking to feed them, there are also fun ways to be in here. Especially, to be with the bear keeper team. They are very friendly and helpful and making the surroundings are very pleasant for the internship students like me.
Animals need to be treated gently as they are also have feelings and seemed that they are able to understand whatever happens around them. And it was very pleased to see them eating and playing around. Being a conservation intern is rewarding on many aspects. Not only in its educational both from an animal care and natural history perspective, we also get to appreciate the challenges of operating and managing a wildlife facility. It is also empowering because we know we are able to make a difference in the lives of the animals. They are already in captivity, so the very least we can do is help to improve their quality of their lives.
